Use Press Equals with your AI assistant

AI assistants are great at understanding a question and not always great at arithmetic. Connect Press Equals and your assistant can run any of our 556 calculators, get the exact answer with its working, and give you a link to check or change the numbers here. It's free and needs no account.

The connector address

It works with any assistant that supports MCP connectors (the Model Context Protocol), including Claude and ChatGPT.

Claude

1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Press Equals, and paste the address above.
3. In a chat, ask something like “Use Press Equals to work out the payment on a $25,000 car loan at 6.9% for 5 years.”

ChatGPT

1. Open Settings and find Apps & Connectors. Adding your own connector may need developer mode turned on under Advanced; the menu names change from time to time.
2. Create a connector named Press Equals with the address above, with no authentication.
3. Ask a question and pick Press Equals from the tools menu.

No connector? Just ask

On free plans, or any assistant that can open web links, paste this into your chat with your question: “Use https://pressequals.com/api/calc to work this out.” The assistant can search there, then open an answer link such as https://pressequals.com/api/calc/mortgage?principal=320000&annualRate=6.5, which returns the result and its working as plain text.

Other assistants and developers

The server speaks MCP over HTTP at the address above and offers four tools: search_calculators, list_calculators, get_calculator and run_calculator. Results include the calculator's step-by-step working and a link that opens the page with the same inputs. A plain-text map of every calculator is at /llms.txt. Please keep automated use reasonable; heavy traffic is rate limited.

What gets shared

Your assistant sends us only the calculator and the numbers it chooses. We work them out and don't store them. See the privacy policy.
