Days Until Calculator

What this calculator does

This calculator counts the days until a holiday or any date you choose. It also shows the count in weeks and days, the day of the week the date falls on, and "sleeps to go" for the kids. Built-in holidays include Christmas, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween and Thanksgiving.

How to use it

  1. Pick an event from the list, or choose a date I choose and enter any date, like a birthday, wedding, trip or deadline.
  2. The count starts from today. Change counting from to count from another day.

If this year's date has already passed, the calculator counts to next year's.

How holiday dates are worked out

  • Fixed dates: Christmas (December 25), New Year's Day (January 1), Valentine's Day (February 14), the Fourth of July and Halloween (October 31).
  • Thanksgiving (U.S.): the fourth Thursday in November.
  • Mother's Day (U.S.): the second Sunday in May.
  • Father's Day (U.S.): the third Sunday in June.
  • Easter: the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after March 21, worked out with the standard Gregorian Easter formula. It falls between March 22 and April 25.

Counting from October 25, 2026, Christmas is 61 days away, or 8 weeks and 5 days, and it falls on a Friday.
