How Etsy Fees Work

Etsy charges sellers a listing fee and a transaction fee on each sale. This guide explains what's included and how to use the Etsy Fee Calculator so you know your net before you list.

What it's for

Use the calculator when you want to see how much you'll receive after Etsy's fees for a given price, quantity, and shipping. Enter the item price, quantity, and shipping cost; the calculator applies the listing fee ($0.20 per listing) and transaction fee (e.g. 6.5% on item price + shipping) and shows your net and total fees. Fee rates can change; check Etsy's current schedule and adjust if the calculator allows.

Step by step

  1. Enter price — The price per item (before shipping).
  2. Enter quantity — Number of items in the listing (listing fee is per listing, not per item).
  3. Enter shipping — What the buyer pays for shipping (transaction fee applies to this too).
  4. Read the result — You receive (after fees) and total fees. Use this to set prices or to see net on a past sale.

How the fees work

  • Listing fee: $0.20 per listing (one-time when you list).
  • Transaction fee: A percentage of the total sale amount (item price times quantity + shipping) that the buyer pays. Etsy's rate is often around 6.5% but can vary by region and account type. This fee is taken from your payout.

The calculator multiplies your sale total by (1 minus fee rate) to get what you receive, and shows the fee amount.

Example

Item $20, quantity 1, shipping $5. Sale total = $25. At 6.5% transaction fee: fee = $1.63, you receive about $23.37 (before listing fee; listing is per listing, not per sale).

Tips

  • Payment processing — There may be additional payment processing fees in some regions; the calculator focuses on listing and transaction fees.
  • Pricing — Use the calculator to back-solve: set a target "you receive" and adjust price until the result matches.
  • Use the Etsy Fee Calculator for your numbers and current fee assumptions.
