Love Calculator

For fun only

This calculator is for entertainment only. It has no scientific or psychological basis and does not predict compatibility, relationship success, or love. Use it for a laugh with friends—not for life decisions.

What this calculator does

It combines two names with optional qualitative inputs (communication frequency, shared interests, values alignment) into a "compatibility" percentage and a short breakdown (e.g. "Communication: strong, Values: moderate"). The result is not a real measure of love or compatibility.

Typical use: a bit of fun with a partner or friend, or a light-hearted way to compare names. It is not backed by research and should never be used for relationship decisions, therapy, or any serious purpose.

How to use it

  1. Enter the first name and second name in the two name fields.
  2. Optionally rate communication, shared interests, and values alignment (low / moderate / high). These affect the displayed score and breakdown.
  3. Read the compatibility percentage and breakdown in the Result section. Treat the result as a bit of fun.

The score and breakdown update based on your inputs plus a small random factor so results are not overly deterministic. The same names and settings will usually give a similar (but not always identical) result.

"Formulas" used

The score mixes:

  • A name-based value (from the letters of both names) so the same names always get the same base. This is a simple hash-like combination, not a real compatibility metric.
  • Weights for communication, shared interests, and values: low/moderate/high mapped to 0.2 / 0.5 / 0.9. Higher ratings push the score up.
  • A small random adjustment so results aren’t overly deterministic and feel more "fun."

The breakdown labels (e.g. "strong", "moderate") reflect your chosen levels, not a real assessment. No algorithm can measure love or compatibility from names or sliders.

Interpretation & examples

  • Example: "Alex" and "Jordan" with all sliders at "high" might show a high percentage and a positive breakdown. Changing a slider to "low" will lower the score. The exact number is meaningless—treat it as entertainment.
  • Compatibility and love depend on real communication, respect, and shared effort—not algorithms or percentages. Use this only for laughs.

History & background

"Love calculators" have been popular online since the early web—often based on names or birthdays. They are not backed by research; they're a light-hearted tradition. This version adds qualitative sliders for a bit more personalization while staying clearly for-fun. No scientific or medical validity.

Limitations & safety notes

  • No scientific or medical validity. Do not use this for relationship decisions, therapy, or any serious purpose.
  • Compatibility and love depend on real communication, respect, and shared effort—not algorithms or percentages. If you need support with a relationship, consider talking to a trusted person or a qualified professional.

Common questions

Is this calculator accurate?

No. It is for fun only and has no scientific basis. Compatibility and relationships depend on real communication and effort, not algorithms or percentages.

What do the sliders do?

They let you rate communication, shared interests, and values (low/moderate/high). They change the displayed score and breakdown for entertainment; the result is not a real assessment.
